Bracket and Cracket are two fonts that I designed during the Type Design course at CAMPIVISIVI.
The first is a sans-serif font, while the other has an handwriting style. This is my first attempt at designing typefaces, and the result suffered from the fact that the available time wasn't enough to complete the entire font. For the Bracket font I started by drawing letters with a brush and black ink, then I gradually refined the shapes with pens and white ink. When the final letters were good enough, I scanned them and manually digitized them into letters. The Cracket font was a completely different story — just think of it as the “Mr. Hyde” version of Bracket. They don't share any similar feature, and they couldn't be more different. I designed Cracket in a single day, using a Wacom tablet drawing the letters directly into my Mac. Using different pressure strokes I obtained the look of an handwriting, and because the whole process was a lot quicker than for Bracket, I easily designed a lot more letters and extra glyphs. The two type specimens are printed in low quality recycled paper.
