This booklet contains brush strokes used as form of writing. This was a study about writing and calligraphy during the Type Design course at CAMPIVISIVI. “Lascritturainventata” means “The invented writing” in Italian and I used it as a title because the task was to invent a kind of writing without trying to design letters and alphabets. This seemed an easy task at first, but it's quite difficult to come up with fresh ideas without being tempted to draw letters, at least for me. So I finally tried some brush strokes by using the brush in an unconventional way — and here's the result.
I used an embossed paper for the pages and a parchment paper cover, because I like the tactile feeling of materials like these and because it creates a nice contrast with the strong black strokes inside.
